How it all Started
Charles Weatherman
As a combat wounded Marine, I have personally gone through the VA’s disability claim process, and spent years fighting for compensation for my combat wounds. I later served as the VA’s National Compensation & Pension Examination Quality Officer, ensuring that VA examiners across the country properly completed disability examinations and properly wrote medical opinions.
I know firsthand how difficult the disability claim process is, and how a properly written medical opinion can be the difference in having your claim granted or denied. After more than 20 years of serving my fellow veterans, I retired due to my own combat wounds. But I know there are a lot of veterans who are struggling with their VA claims, and I want to help them.
So I connected a team of highly knowledgeable individuals who formed VA Medical Opinions so they could help the veteran community by providing properly written medical opinions for veterans to use to establish a relationship between their disabling conditions and the injuries they sustained during their military service. This is an all star team that is here to help, without charging thousands of dollars to do it.

Veteran Volunteer Initiative
Meet the
Volunteers
The staff at VA Medical Opinions is committed to supporting veterans who are navigating the disability claim process. Recognizing the desire of many retired veteran representatives to remain engaged with the veteran community, we established the Veteran Volunteer Initiative. This initiative provides an opportunity for these individuals to volunteer their time and share their valuable knowledge with fellow veterans. We anticipate continued growth of the initiative and the addition of new volunteers in the near future.

Have
Questions
Do you have payment plans?
Yes, there are options. The invoice sent to you will include an option for a payment plan via afterpay.
We can even accept payments from Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
When do I have to pay you?
We do not require any payment until your medical opinion has been completed. Once our team has prepared your medical opinion, we will contact you to let you know it has been completed, and we will then send you an invoice.
What information do I need to send you?
This will depend on your specific case. We generally need a copy of the VA rating decision that denied your claim and any medical records that document your claimed condition. In some cases having your service medical records will also be very helpful.
What is the difference between a Medical Opinion and a Nexus Letter
A medical opinion and a nexus letter are essentially the same thing. They are both medical statements from a qualified medical professional which explain why your disabling condition is related to your military service. We believe that a medical opinion should be clearer and more concise than a simple “letter” so we prepare our medical opinions in a format similar to a VA Rating Decision that will be familiar to the individual who makes a decision on your disability claim.
How do I send my documents?
These documents can be uploaded via Google Docs and shared with us at Info@VAMedicalOpinions.com. We use Google Workspace, as it is secure and HIPPA compliant. If you have any questions about getting your medical records to us, please do not hesitate to contact us.
What evidence do we review?
● DD-214 Certificate of Discharge from Active Duty
● Military Service Personnel Records
● Military Service Medical Records
● VA C&P Disability Benefit Questionnaires
● Treatment reports from VA Medical Centers and private doctors
